Utilitywise scoop Deal of the Year

A SUCCESSFUL energy and utilities consultancy has scooped Deal of the Year at an awards ceremony after accountants Clive Owen & Co LLP helped them list on the stock market.

South Shields-based Utilitywise Plc became the first North East company in five years to list when it launched on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange in June.

The flotation, with a market capitalisation of £36.9m, was the culmination of ongoing support given to Utilitywise Plc by Clive Owen Corporate Finance led by partner Angus Allan.

Now the work has been recognised with a Deal of the Year prize in the Insider North East Dealmakers Awards.

Angus and his corporate finance team came up with the idea to float and continued to work with the team at Utilitywise Plc to prepare and co-ordinate all the steps required to ensure a successful outcome.

Angus Allan said: “This is fantastic news for Utilitywise, following what has already been a very exciting year for the company.  This award is well deserved and reflects all the hard work and commitment given by the entire team to take Utilitywise through this significant stage in their business.  I’m sure it will be the first of many wins for the company as it continues to go from strength-to-strength.”

Geoff Thompson added: “Winning Deal of the Year is great news as this has been a very positive time for us.

“The high level advice and guidance Angus and his team gave us allowed our business to take the major step forward we needed. We were delighted with the outcome of months of hard work and to gain this recognition is the icing on the cake.”

“Having worked in newspapers for 30 years, I've lost count of the number of public relations companies and press agencies I have come across. There are plenty of bad ones, no end of mediocre ones - and a few very good ones. We know that when Stride is involved, we are dealing with professional journalists who understand what we need: mutually beneficial relationships with influential organisations, and a steady stream of solid editorial material to help us fill our pages."

“I recently worked with Lindsay Parker to generate some publicity for my business. She spent time understanding my needs, the business objectives and managing my expectations. She has immense creative flair, is generous with her advice and ideas and delivers impressive results. I have no hesitation in recommending Stride to any business wanting to get themselves noticed.”"
