Hospice recruits for NE business talent

Hospice signage A NORTH East hospice is urging the business community to give a few hours of their time a month and become a highly valued member of the charity’s trustee board.

St Benedict’s Hospice, in Ryhope, Sunderland, is recruiting new trustees to its board to support the charity’s vision for the future.

The hospice is looking for business people from a wide range of skills and backgrounds but in particular knowledge of business development, investment, HR, retail development or clinical skills would be desirable. It hopes that new trustees will use their networks to promote the fantastic work the hospice does for its patients and their families.

The hospice is holding a trustee recruitment evening on Wednesday, May 27 from 6.30 to 8pm at St Benedict’s for those interested in joining the trustee board. Prospective trustees can go along, find out more about the work of the hospice, the charity, how they work together and see how they can make a difference.

Derek Moss, chairman of trustees said: “We’re looking to recruit new members to the trustee board of the charity who will be able to offer their expertise, skills and networks as the charity enters into a period of change.

“It will include the development of strategic, business and fundraising plans that ensure a cohesive relationship with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, the providers of the clinical services at the hospice, so that we can ensure that patients and their families receive the very best of care at all times.

“We need people who are energetic, entrepreneurial and who are passionate and committed to the vision we have for the hospice’s future.”

“Business expertise can be across a range of disciplines and, although it will only be for a few hours per month, their valued time will make a great deal of difference to our work here.”

St Benedict’s Hospice celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and is the oldest hospice in the North East.
