Demand sees accountancy firm launch new IT company

ACCOUNTANTS and business advisers Clive Owen & Co LLP has set up a new technology business to reflect growing demand for high quality IT support and services.

The firm, which has offices in Darlington, Durham and York, has launched Clive Owen Technology Services to reflect the growing number of clients who need innovative IT solutions to improve efficiency and help them grow their businesses.

The firm has provided IT support for more than five years, but the move strengthens the IT function within the firm and enables it to develop and expand the range of services it offers clients.

The business will be led by Lee Huck, director of Clive Owen Technology Services, who said the move reflected both the changing face of technology and the needs of business owners.

“We’ve been providing IT solutions for many years to clients, but we’ve seen how the environment has changed and we know that how people choose their IT provider is different to how they choose their accountant,” he said.

“Over recent months we have introduced some key initiatives, including Cloud computing and our in depth software development capabilities. For us to take these forward, we need to be operating in other arenas rather than simply an accounting environment.

“The launch of Clive Owen Technology Services is tremendously exciting for us and it gives us the scope to take our business forward and make a significant impact on our clients and businesses across the North East and Yorkshire.”

Tony Luckett, partner with Clive Owen & Co LLP, said: “We’re very excited about the future of Clive Owen Technology Services.

“We felt it was essential to be able to demonstrate to clients our commitment to moving forward.  In addition, they need to feel they are dealing with IT specialists who understand that sector and can compete in that field.

“Many businesses are seeing the results of clear, focused and effective diversification.  This move for us just re-enforces what we have been doing for many years but perhaps puts it clearer on the map.”

Clients who have already benefitted from Clive Owen Technology Services include carbonated drinks firm, Healthy Thirst Drinks. The company had a Cloud computing system installed which enabled its three directors – living more than 60 miles apart in the North East and North Yorkshire – to work remotely following a company restructure.

Sheila Woodall, a director of Healthy Thirst Drinks, who is based in Sedgefield, said the Cloud technology had transformed the way they worked.

“Lee at Clive Owen really helped us come up with a fantastic IT solution which has meant we can all work from home while keeping on top of the business.

“We’re looking to grow Healthy Thirst Drinks and cloud technology is helping us do just that. We wish Clive Owen & Co all the best with their exciting new venture.”
