Harrisons leads in Virgin London Marathon

BESPOKE event suppliers, Harrison External Display Systems, is supplying its seventh London Marathon on Sunday with more than 32km of branding.

The prestigious race, which attracted 5.4m viewers last year, is just one of many events Harrison EDS has supplied including the US Golf Open, Tour De France, Commonwealth Games and the recent Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Harrison is one of the biggest suppliers of flags and flagpoles in Europe and manufactures on site at Darlington, County Durham.

For this year’s London Marathon, Harrison supplied 32km of knitted poly-air fence scrim – a lightweight fabric which is easily rolled out onto temporary barrier fencing and has perforations to allow the wind to pass through without resistance.

It also supplied 50 Tobe Towers which are three metres in height and a metre wide, and made with a steel frame and branded corex boards. The towers are used as key markers along the route such as mile markers and the all important hydration stations.

Andrew Hobson, Harrison EDS’s managing director, said: “It’s a huge privilege to be chose by the organisers of the London Marathon year after year.

“When we work on large events like the marathon the lead times are tight but our project team pride themselves on turning around high impact orders quickly and within budget.

“It’s always exciting supplying such high profile events as the London Marathon and they often lead onto other prestigious contracts.”
