Government backs plans for the North East Economic Partnership

NECC today strongly welcomed the Government’s backing for a North East Economic Partnership to manage strategic business functions for the North East.

James Ramsbotham, chief executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC), said: “We are delighted that the Government has listened to the overwhelming consensus that it was vital for the North East to have a strategic body to handle key priority areas alongside the Local Enterprise Partnerships.

“The business community spoke with one voice when it strongly outlined the necessity for the North East to have one body in charge of six strategic areas – including inward investment and support for innovation in key sectors – that are essential for our part of the UK to grow our economy creating wealth and jobs. Such a body will reinforce the Tees Valley LEP and any future LEP covering the area from Durham to Northumberland and help both to develop more quickly and effectively.

“Today’s announcement ends weeks of waiting for the new direction of sub-national policy and it is essential that we get the North East Economic Partnership and the Local Enterprise Partnerships up and running immediately. NECC and its members are poised to play a meaningful role in this new era for local economic growth.”

They have taken time to learn about our business and our market place. Their positive and proactive approach slots perfectly into our way of working and through good communication and understanding we have gained fantastic results. We have been delighted with the professional service we have received and look forward to continued success in the future."

“Lindsay personifies creativity. No matter what message you're trying to get across, she comes up with a story that's novel and that works. Lindsay is also generous with her time and ideas, and is genuinely a lovely person to work with. She has helped me with story development, writing press releases and managing press release distribution - and her success rate with having articles published speaks for itself. Highly recommended"
